Marek Ściążko

Member of the Supervisory Board

Marek Ściążko is a Member of the Supervisory Board at TAURON Polska Energia S.A. He was appointed to the Supervisory Board on 31 January 2008.

Marek Ściążko graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the Silesian University of Technology, where he majored in chemical engineering. He has also earned a PhD from the same Faculty.

Marek Ściążko has completed numerous training courses in Poland and abroad. He is a member of, among others, the following organizations: the Scientific Council of the Institute for Energy - JRC Petten, the Netherlands; the European Technology Platform for Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants, the FP7 Advisory Group for Energy set by the European Commission; the Commission on the Power Engineering Sector’s Problems set up by the Polish Academy of Sciences; Scientific Board of the Central Mining Institute.

Marek Ściążko has worked at the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal since 1975 first an intern, then assistant and subsequently a senior assistant at the Process Engineering Research Unit, head of the Coal and Carbonization Product Fluidized Bed Combustion laboratory, head of the Grain-sized Activated Carbons laboratory, head of the Complex Coal Processing Research Unit. Since 1991 he has been the director of the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal in Zabrze.

Marek Ściążko declared that in reference to the requirements defined in §23 section 3 of the Articles of Association of TAURON Polska Energia S.A., he meets the independence criteria for supervisory board members under Commission Recommendation of 15 February 2005 on the role of non-executive or supervisory directors of listed companies and on the committees of the (supervisory) board (2005/162/WE), including Best Practices for WSE Listed Companies.
