The principal activities of the Group's mining business are the mining, processing and sale of hard coal in Poland. The Group produces coal from two mining facilities representing approximately 20% of Poland's recoverable hard coal reserves.

The principal activities of the Group's generation business are the generation of electricity and heat from conventional sources, as well as biomass and co-combustion through the operation of 11 power plants and combined heat and power plants. The TAURON Group also generates electricity from renewable sources through the operation of 35 hydroelectric power plants with maximum achievable electricity capacity of 131.2 MW as of December 31, 2009.
